My Journey

Really pleased to meet you!

I’m Cor, owner, captain and custodian of Sorcery. In 2020, after retirement from a career that took me around the planet, I was offered the opportunity to purchase Sorcery from a good friend. So, I bought her with the aim of spending my retirement sailing around the world.

We set out in Turkey with grand plans until the global pandemic came along. That left us hanging around for another year.

In that time, I’ve put Sorcery through her paces around the Mediterranean. She’s an amazing vessel; enduring 50 knot gusts and 7-metre waves as the Med battered us around. Man, is she sturdy!

And for me, it seems… I’ve fallen in love with her!

In 2022, we left Turkey and sailed via Spain, Cape Verde and across the pond into the waters of the Caribbean.

Currently we’re in Cartegna in the Colombia/Panama region; where we intend to plan Sorcery’s next chapter of adventures. We want to explore this region with you. I’m particularly in love with the San Blas islands but I’m happy to share Sorcery’s next journey anywhere around these parts.

Take a look at Sorcery in these pages; perhaps you’d like to join me and Noel in Sorcery’s exciting life!

Cor Koster

Crew

Cor, Dutch

I am a mechanical engineer which comes in very handy when keeping Sorcery in excellent running order. As a friend once told me “Everything on your boat is broken, you just don't know it yet".

Mechanical engineering took me through many roles and responsibilities. I spent a long time working in the energy industry. So despite my relaxed attitude to life, I was trained in a culture with a strict understanding of safety procedures when controlling equipment and machinery. That makes me really focused on the safety of my crew and passengers.

Besides my mechanical skills I am a qualified skipper having navigated 10,000 NM in a vast array of conditions and locations – as you’d expect.

I’m also a fully qualified BSAC (British Sub-Aqua Club) instructor which means that your safety is my priority whether in or out of the water.

Noel, British

Noel, a dependable friend, and permanent crewmember, is a man of many skills, developed over 50 years of working and travelling around the world.

British Army trained, and a successful career as a surveyor, he's got great planning, logistics, organizational and IT skills. Noel spent many years as a trainer in the energy industry; his practical approach and no-nonsense attitude to getting things done means that Noel is extremely versatile on board.

He's also an excellent cook. The food served onboard has never been better since he joined me 1,000 NM ago.

A qualified NAUI rescue diver and well-trained in matters regarding safety onboard.

Our Motivation

Our driving force is on having a great time, to sail, see new places and meet interesting people.

We are in good physical condition and want to exploit this for as long as we can – after all, I’m only a custodian of Sorcery – her journey will continue long after ours has ended. We live for the moment and are keen to keep Sorcery in great shape so we can complete our planned circumnavigation of this wonderful planet.

Our Plan

Short term, for the 2024 season we will be sailing/chartering in the Colombia/Panama region. Colombia's Rosario Islands are a must see, Panama's San Blas islands are just stunning with crystal clear waters, idyllic islands/beaches and no mosquitos!

We haven’t made any fixed routes or set out detailed plans – we want you to be part of that. Sailing with us will be truly a joint-venture – so if you want to part to be part of our journey – let us know where and what you want to do.

What makes us different?

Apart from making the best cappuccino outside of Italy, as hosts, we'll treat you as one of the Sorcery family.

We are very easy-going guys, handy at most things, well-travelled, love good food, a bit of a party, music (we play guitar & harmonica), photography, diving, fishing, to mention but a few hobbies.

The best part about a private crewed charter is that unlike booking cruise ships, resorts or hotels, your group can exclusively enjoy the facilities, amenities, surroundings and each other’s company without having strangers or other passengers vying for the best spots.

Together, we will ensure you have fun but at the heart of your journey will be the sailing experience!
